DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth defeated the Philadelphia Wings, 10-9, on Saturday night at Pepsi Center, despite going scoreless in the second half.
Colorado forward Jordan McBride led the Mammoth with four goals, but admitted that the team was fortunate to come away with the win.
Last week, the Mammoth led the Roughnecks, 7-2, late in the second quarter, only to lose in overtime. A week later, the Wings were unable to claw all the way back.
Reigning NLL MVP John Grant Jr. surpassed Mammoth legend Gary Gait for third all-time in career points in league history on his goal 2:07 into the second quarter. But it wasn’t all smiles after the game.
The Wings managed four goals in the first thirty minutes, and five in the second half. Drew Westervelt’s extra-attacker goal with 58 seconds remaining cut the Mammoth’s lead to one.
