Final preparations for the Bolder Boulder continued on Sunday for what’s known as the fifth largest race in the nation.

This year more than 50,000 people, including eight athletes that will go on to compete in the Rio Summer Olympics, are signed up for the race.

The race beings at a little before 7 a.m. on Monday with a race for joggers, runners and those in wheelchair.

At around 11:15, the international pro-race begins with runners from places like Kenya, Brazil and Mexico competing.

For the first time this year, that race will begin closer to Folsom Field, on the corner of Taft and Folsom Street.

“I’ve raced all over the world,” said Sarah Slattery, who will compete with team USA, “I have to say it’s probably one of the most exciting and most fun races I’ve ever been a part of.”

The race finishes at Folsom Field a little after noon where there will be a Memorial Day tribute service.
