7Sports has learned that Larry Eustachy will be the next head coach of the mens basketball team at Colorado State University.
Eustachy is currently the coach at the University of Southern Mississippi.
A news conference to announce the hiring will likely be held Thursday.
Eustachy replaces Tim Miles, who left the Rams to coach Nebraska. Miles left the university on March 23.
Miles led the Rams to the NCAA tournament and a fourth-place finish in the Mountain West (8-6) and a 20-12 overall record in 2011-12.
Eustachy may be a controversial choice for CSU. Pictures surfaced in 2003 showing Esutachy partying with college students. The photos got him fired and in rehab.
He spent a season out of coaching before going to Southern Miss in 2004. This year the Golden Eagles made the NCAA tournament and advanced to the round of 32 this season.
Earlier Wednesday Ernie Kent had reportedly agreed to be the new coach. However, a high level administrator blocked the hire for an unknown reason.
