Glendale, CO - The Raptors may have had a bye week on the 15th, but their preparation for their Week 4 match up against first-place San Francisco Golden Gate (SFGG) did not stop. The Raptors will fly to San Francisco – their third away match of the season thus far – this weekend with the goal of unseating the current Pacific Rugby Premiership (PRP) leaders.
For the second week in a row, the San Francisco-based team is sitting atop the leader boards, this time after a 24-10 victory over Olympic Club. SFGG, as some fans may recall are perennial powerhouses on the pitch. They took the Elite Cup Championship title in 2013 with a decisive victory over the Life Running Eagles. SFGG also made several appearances in the Super League Finals, when that league was still in play.
“SFGG is a big, mobile team, with a very experienced quick back line of players that will not hesitate to take advantage of any opportunity to score,” said Glendale Head Coach Andre Snyman. “Our guys have done a great job of stepping up their game around being aggressive on defense and maintaining focus while on offense. Both of those things will be keys to success for our matchup this weekend.”
Only one team will remain undefeated when the dust settles – will it be the Raptors or SFGG? Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. Pacific Time at Treasure Island.
Other fixtures slated for this weekend include Belmont Shore at home versus Santa Monica and Olympic Club hosting OMBAC.
Rugby returns to Infinity Park on Saturday, March 1st, when the Raptors host Santa Monica for Week 5 of PRP league play. Kick off will be at 3 p.m. local time at Infinity Park
