Eaglecrest Raptors upsets Denver East to round out High School Basketball Playoffs Championships

Regis Jesuit over Highlands Ranch in 5A girls

BOULDER, Colo. - At the beginning of the season, Eaglecrest lost to Denver East by 20 points. But at season’s end it was the Raptors taking it to the Angels.

Eaglecrest captured the 5A state title over Denver East in a convincing 63-44 win, at the Coors Events Center on the University of Colorado campus Saturday night.

The Raptors were led by senior TreShawn Wilford’s 21 points and nine rebounds. Denver East managed to shrink Eaglecrest’s nine point lead at halftime to one point early in the 3rd quarter at 26-25, but the Raptors ended the game on a 37-19 run to seal the victory.

Regis Jesuit held off Highlands Ranch to win the 5A girls state title, 53-46. The win was Regis’ second state championship in five seasons.
