DENVER - The Colorado Rockies have signed three international prospects, all of which are just old enough to drive.
The Rockies signed Colombian pitcher Erick Julio and Venezuelans shortstop Carlos Herrera and Jose Gomez.
Julio, 16, agreed to a $700,000 contract with the Rockies on Tuesday according to Baseball America.
Herrera, 16, also signed with the Rockies on Tuesday where he is projected to play shortstop.
Gomez, 16, agreed to a deal with the Rockies on Wednesday. Gomez is projected to play as a middle-infielder.
Herrera and Julio are ranked No. 11 and No. 13 on the international prospect list by Baseball America.
Tuesday was the first day of the international signing period where 16-year-old international prospects are eligible to sign with a team.
