CASPER, Wyo. - The Mountain West Conference has suspended a Wyoming linebacker for one game for targeting another player in UW's 56-to-23 victory over Air Force on Saturday.
"Wyoming junior linebacker Nehemie Kankolongo has been issued a one-game suspension for targeting and initiating contact against an opponent with the crown of the helmet, in accordance with NCAA Football Playing Rule 9-1-3," the Mountain West Conference said in a news release.
The hit on Air Force's Anthony LaCoste was not called for a penalty at the time of the hit, according to the Casper Star-Tribune. However, officials said the disciplinary action came after a weekly review conducted by the Mountain West office of all player safety fouls and falls under NCAA Football Playing Rule 9-6-2.
Kankolongo will not play in the upcoming game against Texas State.
