It was a thriller, and no one would expect anything less with a trip to the NCAA Division II national championship on the line Thursday night.
Tied at 69-69 after two free throws by Metro State's Mitch McCarron, Central Missouri's TJ White made a layup with one second left to stun the top-ranked Roadrunners 71-69 here in a thrilling national semifinal Thursday night at the Ford Center in Evansville.
The Roadrunners (32-2) tried for a desperation play, but a long two-point shot attempt at the buzzer by McCarron bounced off the rim as their dream of a title came to an end. McCarron finished with 13 points. Brandon Jefferson led the Roadrunners with 21 points.
