INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Just hours before Peyton Manning takes the field against his former team, ticket prices on the streets of Indianapolis are through the roof.
Andy Panoncillo, an Indiana resident but self-described Peyton Manning fan, said he was offered ten times face value for his ticket. He was too big a fan to accept, having already sliced two Denver and Indianapolis jerseys in half to make a new one in support of his favorite player.
"I'm still kinda tempted," he said.
From his street corner perch beside a newspaper box, John Taylor agreed that tickets were a valuable commodity. He said ticketholders had approached him asking $500 for a $69 ticket and $1,000 for a $104 ticket. To profit, he would have to turn them around and sell them for even more.
"There's a fool born every day, I'm just not one of them," Taylor told 7NEWS.
A second seller showed 7NEWS he was trying to unload tickets face values between $50 and $60. He was asking about $200 and said he'd already sold a set of four tickets for $800.
"For an ideal section, (on the) 40 or 50 yard line, you're probably going to pay ten times," said another seller riding his bike through the crowd.
He added that tickets from a broker could cost even more.
Jeff and Janna Parker say they, "just love the Colts." The two Canadians residents wanted to see Manning's homecoming game so badly that they purchased season tickets, despite living about 1,800 miles away.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 eastern, 6:30 mountain.
