DENVER -- Almost exactly a year ago, Mark Sanchez landed in Denver as a potential bridge quarterback.

In a perfect world, he would provide a veteran presence to ease the transition for Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch. Sanchez did everything right off the field, emerging as a leader, a welcomed presence in the locker room and diligent worker. On the field, interceptions in training camp to Lorenzo Doss and a costly pick in the opening exhibition game pushed Sanchez behind Siemian in the race for the job.

With Lynch in the fold and Siemian the starter, the Broncos cut Sanchez after failing to work out a trade with Dallas. Sanchez signed with the Cowboys, earning high marks for helping mentor rookie Dak Prescott. Sanchez has moved to Chicago, telling Denver7 on Thursday night he has signed with the Bears.

Sanchez, 30, played in two games last season, completing 10 of 18 passes for 93 yards.
