Excitable Broncos fans shut down Denver streets with massive celebrations.
Crowds gathered in downtown right after the Broncos victory over the Panthers in Super Bowl 50. Many people remained peaceful through the night.
Around 10:30, people near the 16th Street Mall grew rowdier. Some threw trash cans and were shaking cars.
Police in riot gear formed straight lines blocking the streets. Many people said officers used tear gas.
No serious injuries were reported. Denver Police made 12 arrests.
Roads near 19th & Market were closed as officers managed the crowds. Heavy traffic filled the area and vehicles were no longer allowed there.
I-25 ramps into downtown Denver were closed at 38th Ave., Speer Blvd., 20th and 23rd.
All roads reopened around 1:45 a.m. Monday.
