Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway said he plans to take the best player he can in the draft again this year.
"I think we're open to anything," Elway said. "It's expensive to go up. That's not saying we wouldn't take a chance."
The Broncos are scheduled to pick 28th in the first round of the draft.
"We'll get a good football player at 28, and that's our plan right now," Elway said.
Elway said the team had a great year last year, but losing in the first round of the playoffs was a disappointment.
"The last thing you can do is be satisfied at 13-3 and losing in the (divisional) round in the playoffs," Elway said. "Losing in the first round of the playoffs, that's not what we want."
Elway said wants to find a player who will be with the team for many years to come.
"We can't make mistakes," Elway said. "We want to find 10 year guys."
Elway said the team is doing mock drafts to make sure they are ready when their 10 minutes on the clock starts.
The draft begins at 6 p.m. MT on Thursday.
