Denver Broncos players thanking Broncos owner Pat Bowlen on Twitter

DENVER - Former Denver Broncos players are expressing their gratitude to Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.

Wednesday, the team announced that Bowlen was stepping down from day-to-day operations with the team because he is battling Alzheimer's Disease.

"Words can't express the love, respect & gratitude I have for Pat Bowlen," tweeted former player Ed McCaffrey. "He set the standard for team ownership. Keep Mr. B in your prayers."

"I didn't know Mr B well, but his leadership was always evident," tweeeted former Brnocos player and current Jaguars guard Zane Beadles. "I feel fortunate to have started my career in Denver #PrayersForMrB @Broncos"

Former Broncos player and NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe was interviewed on Sirius radio Wednesday morning. He said, "Nobody wants to win more than Mr. Bowlen. Those two Lombardi trophies are his proudest moments."

Wednesday is report day for some of the Denver Broncos. Training camp for the 2014-2015 season starts Thursday.
