ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week, the National Football League announced Wednesday.
Miller had six tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles in the Broncos 30-23 win over the San Diego Chargers last Sunday.
The three sacks ties a career best for Miller. His other three-sack game came against the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this season.
Miller is second in the NFL with 13 sacks, just two behind San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith, who has 15.
Smith took over the lead from Miller with 5.5 sacks against the Chicago Bears last Monday.
This is the second time Miller has won the AFC Defensive Player of the week award. Cornerback Tracy Porter and linebacker Wesley Woodyard have received defensive player of the week honors this season.
