DENVER - The NFL has suspended Broncos middle linebacker Joe Mays for one game and fined him $50,000 for a hit on Texans quarterback Matt Schaub during Sunday's game.

The helmet-to-helmet hit was powerful enough to knock Schaub's helmet off and take off a piece of Schaub's  earlobe.

7SPORTS anchor Lionel Bienvenu said Mays cannot be at Dove Valley this week or at the stadium for the Raiders game Sunday.

However, Mays is appealing the suspension.
