AP writers name Denver Broncos top team in NFL

DENVER - Our 12-3 Denver Broncos strengthened their grip on the top spot in the AP Pro32 NFL power rankings this week.

The AFC West champion Broncos received nine first-place votes and 381 points in balloting by The Associated Press' panel of 12 media members who regularly cover the league.

The NFC South champion Atlanta Falcons improved to 13-2 last week and moved up two places to second with one first-place vote and 363 points.

While the Broncos are 16-point favorites against the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday, they're not looking past the game yet.

From the free safety to the head coach to Peyton Manning to the 53rd man on the roster, this has been the theme all year -- think about next Sunday, think about getting better every week, and let the future take care of itself.
