POSTED: 1:16 am EST March 9, 2004

Colorado center Steve Moore was taken off the ice on a stretcher during the third period of a 9-2 win over Vancouver on Monday at GM Place.

Moore, who scored a goal before leaving the contest, was punched in the head from behind by Vancouver forward Todd Bertuzzi. Moore's head hit the ice and he laid motionless before being carted off on a stretcher. Bertuzzi received a match penalty for his actions.

In 57 games this season, his first full season with the Avalanche, Moore has five goals and 12 points.
