LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Colorado Rockies pitcher Denny Neagle was
charged with drunken driving early Friday after he drove his sport
utility vehicle into the back of another vehicle, police said.
Nobody was hurt in the accident involving Neagle, 35 (pictured, left), and a
woman who lives in Pine, Colo., said police spokesman Steve
Davis. Neither Neagle's 2003 Hummer or the woman's Saturn was heavily damaged, he said.
The accident happened at Alameda And Kipling.
Neagle submitted to a breath test that indicated a blood-alcohol
content of 0.11 percent, over the 0.1 percent threshold for driving
under the influence, Davis said.
He said Neagle was ordered to appear in Jefferson County Court
in late November, but a date has not been scheduled.
Neagle, who lives in nearby Morrison, was released to a friend
after the breath test, Davis said.
The Rockies were monitoring the case, said team president Keli
McGregor.
"Our entire organization takes very seriously the potential outcome of drinking before operating a vehicle," said McGregor. "Fortunately, no one was injured in the auto accident last night in Lakewood that involved Denny Neagle. We will continue to follow the situation and stay in contact with Denny and Lakewood law enforcement officials."
Neagle finished his 13th season in the major leagues this year
with a 2-4 record and a 7.9 ERA in seven starts. He was placed on
the disabled list in late July with an elbow injury.
Colorado Rockies pitcher Denny Neagle is unhurt, but will face a charge of driving under the influence after a traffic accident early Friday morning. |
