POSTED: 8:19 pm MST November 21, 2009

(Sports Network) - James Aho buried a 27-yard field goal with just 12 seconds remaining to lift the New Mexico Lobos to a 29-27 victory over the Colorado State Rams in a Mountain West Conference affair at University Stadium.

Donovan Porterie completed 22-of-37 passes for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead New Mexico (1-10, 1-6 MWC), which snapped a 14-game losing streak with the win. Demond Dennis ran for a career-high 133 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries for the Lobos, while Kasey Carrier added 87 yards on the ground in 15 totes.

John Mosure ran for 177 yards and two scores to lead the way for Colorado State (3-8, 0-7), while Lou Greenwood nabbed four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Jon Eastman had a rough day under center for the Rams, completing 8-of-11 for just 130 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The Lobos opened the scoring, capping a 12-play, 80-yard opening drive with a 12-yard strike from Porterie to Victor James.

The Rams responded late in the period with a Josh Mosure one-yard plunge that tied the contest at 7-7.

A 21-yard Aho field goal gave the Lobos a 10-7 lead early in the second period of play.

New Mexico took a 17-7 lead just minutes later following a 21-yard Porterie toss to Quintell Solomon.

A two-yard run from John Mosure with under a minute remaining in the half pulled the Rams to within three.

CSU earned its first lead of the day following a 50-yard toss from Jon Eastman to Lou Greenwood late in the third period of play, but the Lobos responded less than a minute later with a 42-yard Demond Dennis scamper. The extra point attempt was blocked, leaving New Mexico with a 23-21 advantage.

Early in the final period of play, the Rams took a 27-23 lead following a 97- yard interception return by Nick Oppenneer.

The Lobos responded with a 37-yard Aho kick to pull within one midway through the frame.

The final drive began at the Colorado State 45-yard line, and it was kept alive with a five-yard Porterie run on fourth-and-two. A 22-yard run by Kasey Carrier then set up Aho's winning kick.
