Toronto, ON -- (Sports Network) - Buzz Hargrove submitted his resignation as the NHLPA Ombudsman on Sunday.

Hargrove notified the NHLPA executive board through e-mail after serving in the position since February 27, 2009. Prior to his service as ombudsman, Hargrove served as a member of the NHLPA advisory board from September 2008 to February 2009.

Former NHL player Eric Lindros was the first-ever NHLPA ombudsman, having been named to the created position on November 11, 2007. He was succeeded by Hargrove after resigning on February 3.

No replacement was named.
