NCAA Game Summary - S-M-U At Tulsa

Tulsa, OK -- (Sports Network) - Kyle Padron threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns to lead the SMU Mustangs to a 27-13 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Conference-USA play at Chapman Stadium. Aldrick Robinson hauled in five passes for 104 yards for SMU (4-4, 3-1 C-USA), which snapped a two-game losing skid. As for the Golden Hurricane (4-4, 2-2), they were paced by Jacob Bower, who threw for 206 yards and one touchdown in the loss.
After a scoreless first quarter the Golden Hurricane took a 7-0 lead early in the second frame when Charles Opeseyitan scored on a 13-yard run. However, the Mustangs responded with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Padron to Cole Beasley. SMU broke the tie game midway through the third quarter when Padron connected with Shawnbrey McNeal for a 36-yard scoring strike. The Mustangs added a 35-yard field goal by Matt Szymanski late in the third frame, pushing their lead to 17-7 as the two teams headed into the final quarter. Seconds into the fourth frame SMU's lead was pushed to 13 points when Szymanski connected on a 31-yard kick. The Golden Hurricane wasted little time with their response, as Bower connected with Jake Collums for a 13-yard score. However, the extra point was blocked, leaving Tulsa on the wrong end of a 20-13 score. With less than two minutes remaining in regulation the Mustangs put the game out of reach with a two-yard touchdown run by Zach Line.
