Mississippi State's Mullen Reprimanded By SEC

POSTED: 2:17 pm MDT October 26, 2009

(Sports Network) - Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen was reprimanded on Monday by the Southeastern Conference for his public comments made about the officiating following Saturday's 29-19 loss to now top-ranked Florida.

Mullen was upset with the replay booth for not overturning a fourth quarter call on a questionable Florida touchdown. With the Gators in front 23-13 near the midway point of the period, Dustin Doe intercepted MSU quarterback Tyson Lee and celebrated prematurely and was stripped of the ball near the goal line. However, instant replay concluded the touchdown stood, and Florida went up 29-13.

"Coach Mullen has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics," SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said. "SEC Bylaw 10.5.4 clearly states that coaches, players and support personnel shall refrain from all public criticism of officials."
