Tyler Tettleton and Theo Scott were a combined 15-of-30 for Ohio for 173 yards. The Bobcats were held to minus-9 yards on the ground and 164 yards in total offense. Scott and Tettleton were sacked a combined seven times and had three passes picked off. The Bobcats opened the scoring when Matt Weller booted a 22-yard field goal midway through the first period. Freddy Cortez responded with a 30-yard boot to tie the game at 3-3 late in the second quarter. He added a 26-yard boot late in the third quarter to give Kent State a 6-3 lead. Keith found Goode with a six-yard scoring throw with 10 minutes left in the game to cap a 57-yard drive and give the Golden Flashes a 13-3 advantage. The pair connected again three minutes later on a 15-yard scoring pass. The Bobcats' only touchdown came on LaVon Brazill's 87-yard punt return with two minutes left in the game, with a successful two-point conversion still leaving the home team with the nine-point setback.
