Denver, CO -- (Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche on Saturday placed forward Cody McLeod on injured reserve, retroactive to October 21, with an eye injury.

McLeod took an inadvertent stick to the eye during Wednesday's shootout loss to Minnesota. He has three goals and two assists in nine games this season for the surprising Avalanche, who sit atop the Western Conference standings.

Colorado recalled forward Brian Willsie from Lake Erie of the American League to fill McLeod's roster spot.
