Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receiver Brandon Marshall have been named to the American Football Conference roster for the annual AFC-NFC Pro Bowl, the National Football League announced Tuesday. The game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu at 2:30 p.m. MST and will be televised by NBC.

Cutler, who leads the AFC and ranks third in the league with 3,851 passing yards, was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his three-year career. He is the third Broncos quarterback to be named to the Pro Bowl, joining John Elway (nine selections) and Brian Griese (one selection), and is the first Denver passer to receive the honor since Griese in 2000.

A 2006 first-round pick from Vanderbilt University, Cutler has started all 14 games for Denver, completing 326-of-522 passes (62.5%) for 3,851 yards with 24 touchdowns and 15 interceptions for an 88.2 passer rating. His six 300-yard passing games lead the AFC and represent a franchise single-season record, and the quarterback is just 238 passing yards and three touchdown passes away from matching Denver’s single-season bests for those categories.

Marshall, who is tied for fifth in the NFL with 88 receptions, was voted to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his three-year career and was named a starter for the game. He is the seventh Broncos wide receiver to be named to the Pro Bowl and the first since Rod Smith in 2005.

A 2006 third-round pick from the University of Central Florida, Marshall has started 13 games for Denver, catching a team-high 88 passes for 1,081 yards (12.3 avg.) with six touchdowns. His 18 receptions (166 yards, 1 TD) against San Diego on Sept. 14 tied for the second-highest single-game total in NFL history, and the wide receiver is on pace to join Smith (2000-01) as the second Bronco in club annals to record consecutive 100-catch seasons.

Cutler and Marshall’s Pro Bowl selections were based on an equally weighted vote of NFL coaches, players and fans. Their selections mark the 28th consecutive season that the Broncos will have at least one representative in the contest and increase Denver’s all-time Pro Bowl totals to 56 players who have received 142 individual nominations.

“With as many talented and deserving quarterbacks as there are in the AFC, I was honored and a little surprised this morning when I found out I was named to the Pro Bowl. It’s a great individual award that definitely should be shared among a lot of my teammates, especially the offensive line for how well they’ve protected me, and our coaching staff for preparing me to play every week. My primary concern right now is winning Sunday against the Bills and getting into the playoffs, but to be recognized by the league and fans with getting voted into the Pro Bowl is special.
