Debbie's Deals: Free Workout, Free 5K

Red Rocks Fitness, Irish Snug Offer Free Workouts

I was pretty pleased when I found a deal at my local rec center for a 20 punch pass for 25 percent off. With that discount and my local's discount, I get into the Broomfield Paul Derda Rec Center for $2.70 a visit.

Now I've found two workouts for free.

Red Rocks Fitness is much more than running the stairs at Red Rocks. It's a 2.5 hour intense workout session. Joe Hendricks is the founder and leader and he runs this workout on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays FOR FREE.

Once on the Web site, click on workout routine to see what participants do and also click on red rocks diet for good advice. Granted, pretty much everything I eat is on the no list, but it's inspirational. And while I'm not ready to try this workout for myself, I hope to make it before the end of the summer.

I have been wondering if I can start running and hopefully complete a 5K or 10K this summer.

Turns out there's a free 5K run EACH WEEK! Check out the Irsh Snug Running Club. They meet each Thursday to run at 6:15 or 6:30 pm at The Irish Snug at 1201 East Colfax on Capitol Hill.

After the free run, club members get a FREE pasta and salad bar dinner and drink specials. All they ask is that you tip the staff generously. Runners even get a free shirt after 10 runs.

I found these deals on the blog "Things to do in Denver when you're desolate". If you see a deal, e-mail me -- Deb Stanley -- at (Deb_Stanley@kmgh.com).
