Smiley Face Nightlights Recalled

Lights Pose Electrocution, Electric Shock, Burn And Fire Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall Thursday for 12,000 Trisonic nightlights because the lights pose a serious electrocution, electric shock, burn and fire hazard to consumers.

According to the CPSC, Trisonic received a report of a light exploding, resulting in laceration injuries to a consumer.

Recalled NightlightThe recalled nightlights (pictured, right) have a yellow exterior shaped like a smiley face. A label on the back of the light reads, "Trisonic, 4W/120Vcustom made in China for Trisonic, Queens, NY, TS-45431."

The lights were sold at dollar stores in the eastern portion of the United States from April 2001 through March 2003 for about $1.

Consumers should stop using the products immediately and mail the night light to Trisonic/Eastern America Trio Products, 11-11 131st St., P.O. Box 527018, Flushing, NY 11352, for a full refund plus the cost of postage.

Those with questions can call Trisonic at (800) 434-8155 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday.
