Former Suspect In Ramsey Murder Now In Sonoma County Custody

BOULDER, Colo. -- The one-time suspect in the JonBenet murder is no longer in the Boulder County jail.The jail administrator told 7NEWS that John Mark Karr has left but he did not say when he left. He is now in the custody of Sonoma County officials.California authorities had until Wednesday to pick up Karr, who faces misdemeanor child-pornography charges.
The Sonoma County district attorney said Karr could face more serious federal charges of child pornography, which carries a much tougher sentence than California's maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.Karr had been in the Boulder County jail since last month, when he was being investigated for the infamous murder.Karr told police in Thailand that he was there when JonBenet died, but his DNA eventually eliminated him as a suspect.
