DENVER -- Home video recently shown on ABC's Good Morning America shows a slightly different picture of the suspect in the center of the JonBenet case. The video, obtained by the National Enquirer, sheds new light on who John Mark Karr is.

The then-28-year-old Karr, with a mullett haircut, is seen singing at a friend's wedding and mugging for the camera with his ex-wife and children by his side.

"We're told Karr thought of himself as something of a pop singer. He wanted to be the next David Bowie," said Barry Levine, executive editor of the National Enquirer.

The video appears to be a typical family home movie but the story behind the pictures is far more sinister, 7NEWS reported.

The video shows Karr joking with his young son, saying "Come here ... Don't make me have to lower you down into that well again. You ain't going to like that no more."

Also in the video is his second wife, Lara, whom he married when she was just 16 years old. Karr's first bride was only 13 years old. But despite the on-camera smiles, Karr's family life was anything but happy, relatives said.

According to the New York Post, Karr threatened to kill Lara and first-born son shortly after his birth.

Karr lost his family in a web of pedophilia -- a life that Lara called "manipulative" and "cruel." Ironically, Lara may hold the key to the case. She claims she spent the Christmas of JonBenet's murder with Karr in Alabama and is now searching for photos and documents that could prove her ex-husband's innocence.
