Parties, Balls Extend To The Mile High City

DENVER -- Inauguration parties and balls stretched well beyond the confines of Washington D.C. on Tuesday.In Colorado, parties were held all around town.The largest was at the Westin Tabor Center in downtown Denver, where between 800 and 900 guests of the Colorado Democratic party danced the night away.
"We are ecstatic. We are excited," said one party-goer."They're all with strangers in a room they've never been in before (in Washington). We're here with all of our friends. This is the place to be," said Colorado Lt. Gov. Barbara O’Brien."I wouldn’t miss this for the world. I worked on this campaign and did everything I could to get Obama elected," said Daisy Garrison of Denver.Bernice Foster waited 74 years for an African American to become president."I never thought that I would live to get to this point," said Foster.Colorado Democratic party event coordinator Pamela Gianola returned from D.C. Tuesday evening."People from all over the world were there. It was calm and pleasant and everybody was happy," said Gianola.Over at the Corner Office bar and restaurant, Denver's young Democrats showed their enthusiasm. "To see people so excited about it, from all generations, I thought was really special," said 29-year-old Rachel kurtz-Phelan. "I was pleased to see the aggressive nature in which President Obama addressed some of the challenges that we have in the country," said Denver Young Democrats president Kevin Neimond. “I feel like we really have a person who knows how to unite all people together,” said Westin party-goer Sharon Jones.
