BOULDER, Colo. -- Boulder police have something unusual in the property room this week: several sets of keys.Officers monitoring the crowds on election night near Broadway and Pearl found several sets of keys on the street, apparently dropped by people who danced and jumped for several hours after Sen. Barack Obama won the presidential election. The keys are locked in the police department's property and evidence room. If you're looking for keys, call Boulder police at 303-441-3300.
Officers closed Broadway between Walnut and Spruce streets for a short time on Tuesday because of the spontaneous celebrations, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.Hundreds of people took to the streets, chanting and jumping for joy. Police shut down an intersection after revelers began dancing in the middle of a red light.Police allowed the celebrations to continue, and only kept an eye to make sure it didn't grow out of control."We even got nice e-mails from people in the crowd" that showed appreciation for how the situation was handled, said Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley. No one was ticketed.
