Thousands Cast Ballots Early

As voters cast their ballots across Colorado Thursday, people with whom 7NEWS talked said Wednesday night's debate only reinforced the views they already held.

Arapahoe County had a steady stream of voters dropping off their ballots at election headquarters Thursday. The county is almost equally divided between Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters.

Miles Arbogast voted for Sen. John McCain. He said the debate clarified his view of the candidates.

"McCain is truly bipartisan," he said. "He will work across party lines."

Cathy Fornnarino voted for Sen. Barack Obama.

"To me he represents change, and I think we need some change," she said.

More than 20,000 voters have already cast their ballot in Arapahoe County, and it's expected that more voters will have cast a ballot before Election Day than on it.

Clerk and Recorder Nancy Doty said Arapahoe County has become the focal point of election watchers.

"I've heard that Arapahoe County could be the center of the election at the national level because we are so eventlyl devided," she said.
