Anti-Abortion Group Plans To Be Arrested
Group Will Target Convention, Churches

DENVER -- The leader of an abortion protest group announced Wednesday he plans to be arrested next week during the Democratic National Convention.Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry said his organization has been protesting abortion for more than 20 years.He said "bold efforts" are needed to make sure the abortion issue gets attention in the presidential election.
Operation Rescue has a reputation of using controversial tactics and vivid signs.Terry, who has been arrested himself more than 40 times, said he met with Denver police for more than 45 minutes to talk about his plans."We intend to hold a peaceful demonstration where we will be arrested," Terry said.He said the group plans to hold a sit-in in a place where they are not allowed.Operation Rescue plans to protest Barack Obama's support of abortion rights during the Democratic National Convention. The group also plans to pass out pamphlets at Denver-area malls and at churches it says support Obama.
