"We've been amazed by the number of people expressing interest in attending Barack's acceptance speech on the final night of the Democratic National Convention here in Colorado. Unfortunately, there are only a certain number of seats in the stadium, and we cannot fulfill every Coloradan's request to attend the event. Due to the high demand for Community Credentials, you have been placed on a wait list.We may be distributing more Community Credentials in the coming days, but we cannot guarantee that you will receive a credential. We will update you as we approach the beginning of the convention.Barack's acceptance of the nomination will be a truly historic moment, and there is another way you can make sure that you enjoy it. Sign up to host or attend a Convention Watch Party on Thursday, August 28th: http://co.barackobama.com/organizeforchangeAll across Colorado, people like you will be hosting Convention Watch Parties to gather with fellow supporters, watch convention events, and talk about the best ways to build this movement for change in Colorado. All-Star Seating Meant Volunteering
Some people expressed frustration over getting tickets, saying they were duped by the campaign into volunteering in order to get tickets.Story: Required To Volunteer? Obama Ticket Giveaway Causes Confusion One 7NEWS viewer sent an e-mail that said, "I received a call Monday saying I could 'qualify' for the tickets if I do 12 hours of volunteer work for the Obama campaign between now and Friday the 15th."The viewer e-mail goes on, "To work 40 hours at my job, get to and from work, get to and from the campaign office and complete the 12 hours in three days would be next to impossible."The Obama campaign insists that volunteering is not a requirement to get a ticket. They said those who were told they must volunteer must have clicked on the opt-in button for "all-star seating" when they signed up for the tickets. If you click that button, then you are required to volunteer, but you get a better seat.If you choose not to volunteer, you retain your place in line, according to the campaign.Another viewer wrote that she didn't volunteer, but she still received tickets."I requested All-Star tickets for the acceptance speech. I decided that I would not be able to volunteer due to my busy schedule. I was contacted three times by the Obama campaign and told I needed to volunteer on Friday. Today I was notified that I received a community credential ticket. I didn't volunteer and didn't loose my place in line, they just gave me a community credential instead of an all star," said Niki Argys. Those who did win tickets were given this e-mail:You will be receiving a Community Credential to Barack Obama's address at the Democratic National Convention.More details on where and when to pick up your credential will be sent via email tomorrow.Due to the substantial number of credentials being distributed, please do not call a Campaign for Change field office today with questions about your credentials. Full details will be sent to you as soon as possible.Barack chose to give his speech at an open event because of his belief in making government accessible to everyone, and the excitement and energy generated by our Open Convention has been tremendous.Thank you for your patience and cooperation in helping to make this convention truly historic.
