POSTED: 11:41 am MDT August 12, 2008

Denver's Democratic mayor and Colorado's Democratic governor will both be speaking at the Democratic National Convention.

Mayor John Hickenlooper will speak on the first night of the convention, Aug. 25, and Gov. Bill Ritter will speak on the final night at Invesco Field, convention organizers said Tuesday.

Ritter will showcase Democratic gains in the West.

Hickenlooper will speak on opening night, when the theme will be "One Nation." That evening will also feature people who have met the presumptive nominee, Barack Obama, during his campaign and the problems they face.

The rest of the speakers will be announced this week and next week.

The convention is Aug. 25-28.
