Planners for the Democratic National Convention in Denver plan to move forward now that Sen. Barack Obama has enough delegates to be selected as his party's nominee.

Leah Doughtry, chied executive officer of the convention, issued a statement that she was confident that planners were in good position even though the nomination decision came relatively late.

She said organizers can now look at issues dealing with speakers and performers.

On July 7, the Democratic Party gets complete control of the Pepsi Center. Designers of the stage and podium have been told to "break the mold and think ouside the box" when doing their work.

An entire list of speakers won't come any time soon. The keynote speaker for the 2004 convention in Boston wasn't announced until 10 days before the convention.

That speaker was a relative unknown politician. His name -- Barack Obama.
