If you read the papers, watch the local news and check out the blogs, you may have seen the phrase "breaking down the walls of the Pepsi Center" associated with the 2008 Democratic National Convention.Let me be the first to tell you that while the inside of the Pepsi Center will look different when the Convention starts Aug. 25, all the walls will be in tact. What will be unique to this Convention is the view those outside of the Pepsi Center will have inside the Democratic National Convention. The Democratic National Convention Committee is dedicated to using technology to give Americans, no matter where they are, a look inside one of the biggest event in the country. We're going to use the Internet to get people involved in the Convention like never before.
Even before the Convention starts in August, we're already drawing back the curtain to give people a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make the Convention happen and the people making it happen. If you visit our blog at DemConvention.com, you'll find written Q&As with staff, including one staffer who has been working with every Convention since 1976. You'll also find interviews with staff that are working to improve their adopted city of Denver by volunteering at the Denver Rescue Mission. If you become a daily visitor to our Web site and blog, I guarantee that by the time the Democratic National Convention rolls around August 25th, you'll know as much about the Convention as some of our staff. So when you're done reading this blog post, check out DemConvention.com, bookmark the site, click on blog to get regular updates.Join our Facebook group and meet others interested in the Convention from around the country. If after reading the blog and joining the Facebook group, you don't feel connected enough, click Volunteer button on the website and learn how to volunteer your time at the Convention.Sure you can wait nine months or so for us to break down the walls of the Pepsi Center for you to get your peek into the 2008 Convention. But why not get involved now? So, keep reading this blog for more information, check out the DNCC's blog or volunteer and get a first hand look at what it takes to make a national political Convention happen.
