Cigar-Bar Smoking Decision On Hold

New Law Sent Back To Committee

Colorado lawmakers postponed a decision Friday on whether Colorado cigar bars should remain exempt from the state's no-smoking laws.

The state Senate Appropriations Committee will take up the issue first thing Monday morning.

Lawmakers are split on whether the cigar bars should retain the exemption that was approved last year when the Legislature passed a statewide smoking ban. The exemption for casinos was revoked earlier this week.

State Sen. Betty Boyd is supporting a law that would tighten the definition of cigar bars so that regular bars cannot use that title and exemption.
