Denver Officials More Confident Of Getting Democratic Convention

POSTED: 11:16 pm MST December 15, 2006

Governor-Elect Bill Ritter, Sen. Ken Salazar and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper spoke to Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean Friday morning by conference call.

They discussed details and concerns about Denver’s bid to host the 2008 convention. The conversation left the Denver contingent feeling "enthusiastic, hopeful and confident."

The Democratic National Committee has raised concerns about Denver’s funding, security plans and lodging for the convention. A decision by Dean is expected soon, possibly early next week.

New York is also vying for the event.
