POSTED: 2:22 pm EDT July 22, 2004

Hinote re-signs with Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche re-signed forward Dan Hinote to a one-year contract on Thursday. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Hinote appeared in 59 games for the Avalanche last season, posting four goals and seven assists for 11 points. His two shorthanded goals led the club.

"Danny Hinote is a product of our organization whose grit and determination has enabled him to contribute to our success over the last five years he's been here," said Avalanche president and general manager Pierre Lacroix.

The 27-year-old Hinote has 22 goals and 52 points in 280 NHL games -- all with the Avalanche -- since he broke into the league during the 1999-2000 season. He was a member of Colorado's Stanley Cup championship team in 2001.

The Avalanche also signed free agents Brett McLean and Andre Savage.

McLean, a 25-year-old center, spent last season with the Chicago Blackhawks and was the club's sixth-leading scorer with 31 points in his first full NHL season. He notched 11 goals and 20 assists in 76 games.

"Brett's ability to take face-offs and contribute on special teams brings depth to our roster at the forward position," added Lacroix.

Savage, 29, has 10 goals and 24 points in 66 NHL games with Boston and Philadelphia. He spent last season in the minors, posting 17 goals and 30 assists in 71 games.
