Houston Texans 2008 Training Camp Preview
(Sports Network) -REPORT DATES: Rookies July 25th, Veterans July 25th SITE: Houston Texans Practice Facility, Houston, TX CAMP OBJECTIVES: Quarterback Matt Schaub, who suffered some injuries and was outplayed at times by Sage Rosenfels last season, needs to stay healthy and look sharp throughout camp in order to avoid controversy. The same goes for running back Ahman Green, who now finds rookie Steve Slaton (West Virginia) and ex-Titan Chris Brown alongside him on the depth chart at that position. Wideout Andre Johnson, who missed all of the team's May mini-camps after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery May 15th, is expected to be ready for the start of camp but will probably be brought along slowly. Defensively, the big concern is in the secondary, where the club is unlikely to have cornerback Dunta Robinson (knee) before September. Offseason additions such as Jacque Reeves (Cowboys), rookie Antwaun Molden (Eastern Kentucky) and safety Nick Ferguson (Broncos) must prove that they can contribute. Pass rusher Rosevelt Colvin (Patriots) needs to show that he has something left at the age of 30 and can offset budding superstar Mario Williams. PRESEASON SCHEDULE: Aug 9 - vs. Denver, 8:00 PM Aug 16 - at New Orleans, 8:00 PM Aug 22 - at Dallas, 8:00 PM Aug 28 - vs. Tampa Bay, 8:00 PM
