Pats QB Brady Leaves Game

POSTED: 5:17 pm MDT September 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady left Sunday's 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs with 7:27 remaining in the first quarter after suffering an apparent left knee injury.

Brady was hit by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard while completing a pass to wide receiver Randy Moss.

He was helped to the sideline by team staff limping noticeably, and went to the locker room for evaluation. He did not return.

"Things happen but I can't do anything but send my prayers out to him," Pollard said. "He's a competitor and tough guy. As soon as I heard him scream, I knew something was wrong. That's something you don't want to see happen to another competitor."

The 31-year-old was 7-of-11 for 76 yards prior to the injury. While there was no update on his condition following the game, it was announced that he is set to have an MRI on Monday.

Matt Cassel took over under center on the following series and led the Pats to the first touchdown of the contest, a 10-yard pass to Randy Moss.

Cassel completed the game by throwing for 152 yards and one score on 13-of-18 passes.
