Giants' Boley, Canty Questionable

POSTED: 4:46 pm MST November 6, 2009

(Sports Network) - The New York Giants' depleted defense looks to get a boost for Sunday's game against the Chargers, as linebacker Michael Boley and defensive tackle Chris Canty are both listed as questionable for the tilt.

Boley and Canty are listed as questionable, but both made it through practice this week and intend to play.

Also for the team, head coach Tom Coughlin announced that Aaron Rouse will start at safety in lieu of C.C. Brown in Sunday's game. Rouse joined the team via waivers from Green Bay on September 24, the day safety Kenny Phillips was placed on injured reserve.

Canty hasn't played since Week 1 due to a knee injury. The five-year vet recorded two tackles in the season-opening 23-17 win over the Redskins.

In his first season with New York since being acquired from Atlanta, Boley has played in just three games, the most recent being a 27-16 win over the Chiefs in Week 4. Boley has amassed 278 tackles and five interceptions over 52 career games.

The Giants, who have allowed 112 points over their last three games -- all losses that dropped the team's record to 5-3, have ruled out cornerback Aaron Ross, who has yet to play this season thanks to a hamstring injury.

However, tight end Kevin Boss (ankle), running back Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle, foot), quarterback Eli Manning (foot) and wide receivers Mario Manningham (shoulder) and Sinorice Moss (foot) are all probable for Sunday.
