CSU Orders Sex Offender To Move Off Campus

Thomas Skillman Was Living In CSU-Owned Apartment

POSTED: 4:55 am MST February 2, 2010

A convicted sex offender has been ordered to move out of the on-campus apartment he was sharing with his girlfriend from Colorado State University.

Thomas "TJ" Skillman admitted last month to luring a 13-year-old middle school student while he was working in the Poudre School District.

Skillman, 21, was employed as a special education paraprofessional at Preston Middle School from December 2008 to June 2009.

A police affidavit said that Skillman admitted to kissing the girl and asking her to have sex with him. Skillman also asked the girl to send him pictures of her body, possibly topless.

Skillman pleaded guilty last month to felony Internet luring of a child and misdemeanor unlawful sexual contact.

On Friday, CSU officials learned that Skillman was living with a woman and their child in CSU-owned University Village apartments. On Monday, Skillman was ordered to vacate the apartment within three days.

The university also issued an order barring Skillman from all university housing where children reside and from all university child-care facilities.

Skillman must serve four years probation under the supervision of the Sex Offender Intensive Supervision Probation team. He will also have to register as a sex offender. At a sentencing hearing set for March 12, he faces from six to 18 months in jail for the unlawful sexual contact charge.
