Driver Guilty Of Vehicular Homicide In DUI Crash
15-Year-Old Boy Killed In Weld County Rollover

GREELEY, Colo. -- A Weld County jury took less than four hours to convict a Greeley man of vehicular homicide in a rollover crash last year that killed a 15-year-old boy.Jorge Medrano-Bustamante, 29, faces a maximum of 24 years in prison when he is sentenced on March 2.Medrano-Bustamante was arrested on March 21, 2009, after he crashed his 2001 Volkswagen VR6 on Weld County Road 53, just south of Weld County Road 58. The Volkswagen hit a utility pole on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Abdiel Morales-Sanchez, 15, of Greeley, a passenger in the vehicle, was ejected and killed. Another passenger, Jose V. Medrano-Frias, 18, of Greeley, who was reportedly related to Medrano-Bustamante, was seriously injured. Neither Medrano-Bustamante nor his passengers was wearing a seat belt.In addition to vehicular homicide, Medrano-Bustamante also was convicted of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, vehicular assault - DUI, leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, DUI and permitting a vehicle to be operated in an unlawful manner.
