Dog Opens Car Window; Woman Attacked

Owner Ticketed For Vicious Dog

POSTED: 1:24 pm MDT September 22, 2009

A Broomfield woman is recovering from dog bite wounds after an Aug. 29 attack in a Superior liquor store parking lot.

Liz Sekula told the Daily Camera that she saw a large dog snarling and snapping as she walked by the car it was confined in.

As she waited for her husband to unlock the passenger side door of their car she said the dog appeared next to her and started biting her.

"The dog must have put his paw on the automatic window button because he flew out and started attacking me," she told the Camera.

Sekula received bites on her thigh and elbow before the dog ran away. It ran when her husband and others came to her aid.

The dog's owner, Laura Silk, of Superior, was issued a summons for a vicious dog and was ordered to confine the dog for 10 days, the newspaper reported. She's due in municipal court on Oct. 14.
