Police: Suspected Pimp Arrested In Child Prostitution Sting

Officers Searching For Additional Victims

Police have arrested a man accused of pimping a child, but fear there may be other young women whom he had forced to perform for pay.

Vice and narcotics detectives arrested 24-year-old Bobby James Doss on charges of pimping a child, following an undercover investigation into prostitution services advertised on several popular online Web sites, Aurora police detective Robert Friel said Tuesday. The sites feature classified ads for jobs, housing, good and services.

Investigators identified a young girl who was the subject of a number of online escort service ads and tracked her to a local hotel. Investigators talked with the girl and learned that she had been reported as an out-of-state runaway.

"She was turning over the money she earned for performing sex acts to her handler," Friel said.

Investigators were able to rescue the girl from the situation, but they believe there could be other women -- possibly underage girls -- who were working for Doss.

Carol Lease, the executive director of The Empowerment Program, a 23-year-old Denver organization that offers assistance to women in need, hopes Doss’ arrest will encourage others to come forward for help.

“There are resources here for young women who’ve been exploited by this guy, or anyone else,” she said. “Come in, it doesn’t matter how old you are.”

Lease also cited recent research conducted in Denver, New York and Chicago that shows the average age among women entering the ‘sex for money’ business is between 11 and 12 years old.

While investigators were at the hotel collecting evidence and interviewing the girl in this case, a man was trying to meet her for sex. Investigators prevented the meeting from occurring and the man was arrested for investigation of furthering the act of prostitution.

Brett Alan Coffman, 37, was held for bond in the amount of $1,500.

The girl was taken into protective custody by police.

Doss is currently being held without bond at the Arapahoe County Jail.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Vice and Narcotics Sgt. Stephen Redfearn at 303-739-1750.
