Denver, CO -- Tonight is the last evening of June and it’s going to be a beautiful end to a stormy month. As you may know, we’ve received a lot of rain this month. We are currently at 4.86 inches of precipitation and we just need another tenth of an inch to tie the all-time record for June precipitation. It doesn’t look like we’re going to get that, however, as it will be a dry night with lows in the 60s.Wednesday is going to be a gorgeous beginning to July. July is typically a very hot month with temperatures often in the 90s. Last year we broke the consecutive 90 degree weather streak with 18 days in a row of 90 degrees or warmer.
There will be a better chance of storms toward the end of the week when a cold front races through the region. Temperatures will return to near normal for the holiday weekend with highs in the mid- to upper 80s on both Friday and Saturday. The Fourth is looking to be a typical July day with temperatures around 90 and a 30 percent chance for afternoon thunderstorms. Did you know that July is the stormiest month of the year, with an average of 11 thunderstorms?Just four years ago we also set the all-time high temperature record of 105 degrees. The end of the weekend won’t be that warm but we will get back into the lower 90s.Whatever July may bring, be sure to come on out to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival this weekend to see the weather team and try out the green screen. The 24/7 Weather Experience will be set up on the corner of E. 2nd Avenue and S. Milwaukee Street. \24/7 Weather Center Interns Matt Jones and Meghan Dwyer updated this story.
