A climber is rescued after suffering serious injuries during a fall at Eldorado Canyon State Park on Saturday afternoon.

Rocky Mountain Rescue and the Boulder County Sheriff Department were alerted to an injured climber at the park at 3:45 p.m.

The man fell between 30 and 40 feet and suffered a possible spinal injury. The climber and his partner were climbing "Pool of Blood, " a climbing route on the West Ridge.

The climbers were using pieces of climbing protection and a rope. But when the man fell, all of his protection ripped out of the rock.

Because of the type of injuries suffered and his location, rescue crews had to utilize a technical rescue with ropes and a litter. The man was later flown out by helicopter to a local hospital.
