A Pine woman charged with burglarizing homes and stealing mail pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Sheriff's deputies in Jefferson County arrested Sophie Rose Shafer at a motel in Wheat Ridge.

Investigators said she and her boyfriend, Michael John Pantera, burglarized homes and stole mail in Bailey and unincorporated Jefferson County.

According to court documents, in 2007 they would drive around and take mail from mailboxes, looking for cash or gift cards, and then throw away the remainder of the mail on the road.

Investigators said they found stolen mail in the motel room where Pantera and Shafer were arrested as well as numerous stolen items in a storage locker registered to Pantera.
